Introduction

Now that you have added navigation marks in the form of page numbers and headings and fixed the text as necessary for the entire book, it is time perform Text-To-Speech (TTS) encoding.

TEXT-TO-SPEECH ENCODING (TTS): This will use computer-generated digital voices to add audio output to the project. This is the "talking" portion of DAISY Talking Book.

Adding AudioFullText to the book.

1. Click on “Tools” on the toolbar.
2. Scroll to “TTS ENCODE” TTS Encode iconscroll to the right, then select “Whole Project.” You will be taken to a voices setting window. [shortcut for this is CTL + T]

3. Select the desired voice, then click “OK”. [do not adjust any of the other settings unless directed].

  • Choose one of the following voices unless otherwise directed:
    • SAPI 5 - ATT DTNV 1.4 Crystal
    • SAPI 5 - ATT DTNV 1.4 Crystal

4. Sit back and relax. TTS encoding will take anywhere from 5 minutes to a half hour depending on the size of the textbook
