INFORMATION SOURCES

Recommended magazines and links.

DV.com DV Magazine - This is an excellent magazine for keeping up with new trends and technologies in digital video production. They provide critical reviews of new products like cameras and editing systems, as well as software. There are often useful articles on sound, lighting and editing techniques. It is available in print and on-line. The on-line version has an article archive that stretches back several years. They offer free subscriptions to video professionals which only requires that you provide a company name and answer a brief questionnaire.

Videography Videography Magazine. Similar to DV with articles and reviews of new products, but it is more geared for product promotion and less forthright about criticisms. It is still a good source for information.

Filmmaker Magazine - Great site, brimming with information and ideas, geared toward independent productions.

Videoguys - The Electronic Mailbox. This is primarily a sales website for video production equipment and post-production software, but it is also a great information source. They publish the DTV handbook and provide extensive reviews of nonlinear editing systems and software. You can learn a great deal about all aspects of digital video by perusing this site. They also offer good prices and student discounts on Avid editing software.

Documentary - Documentary Educational Resources is both a distributor and site full of useful information for those interested in the enterprise of documentary filmmaking.
