Welcome to Pat's homepage.
Pat is Assistant Professor of Classical Studies at Boston University. Pat's research interests include Latin first-person poetry, especially the epigrams of Martial; the book and reading practices in ancient Rome; gender and sexuality in Latin poetry; cultural-material approaches to Latin literature. She is working on a book on the role of the reader in Martial's epigrams, in which she uses the Roman conception of audiences to illuminate the question of criticism of the emperor and explore the agency of Roman readers. Her teaching includes Latin language and literature, Roman civilization, and Latin language pedagogy. She is also departmental coordinator for the MAT program in Latin.
