CALL FOR PAPERS
You are invited and encouraged to participate
in a Special 20th Anniversary Issue of WORK: A Journal of Prevention,
Assessment and Rehabilitation (IOS Press) which will focus exclusively
on
A retrospective review of WORK using historical
and contextual analysis of trends and systematic reviews of articles
published in WORK over the past twenty years. We are looking for
articles that target reviews on the:
" Conceptual, theoretical trends and/or issues in the prevention
of or management of injury, illnesses or accidents in the workplace,
" Conceptual, theoretical, or evidence based trends and knowledge
in assessment of the worker, the workplace, and ergonomic tools/equipment,
" Theoretical and conceptual issues trends in rehabilitation
approaches,
" Review of the methodologies used to advance knowledge on
prevention, assessment and rehabilitation.
" Progression or advancement of evidence based knowledge
of rehabilitation interventions,
" Conceptual, theoretical trends or issues relevant to advancing
rehabilitation counseling, vocational counseling, rehabilitation
professionals, education and approaches that support work integration
and return to work.
These reviews must discuss the impact of articles on theory or
practice relevant to advancing the global applicability of the
knowledge base in work related prevention, assessment and rehabilitation.
Scope
We are inviting an international group comprised of WORK editorial
board members, researchers and academics to work with clinicians
and graduate students to conduct these reviews. We are inviting
you to submit a proposal to both editors of this special issue
for consideration. To support the review process of articles over
twenty years we will provide electronic access for those authors
willing to conduct reviews and submit manuscripts. Submissions
Formats - Review papers (10-25 pages)
All submissions must be in electronic formal using
Microsoft Word in 12 point Arial font. Please review submission
guidelines prior to sending it.
Intent to submit article:
Please include a short 200 word description of the
type of review and specific topic on or before December 10th 2008.
The editors will provide initial feedback by Jan 15th 2009 to
help develop a comprehensive set of papers covering all areas
for the review.
For manuscripts:
Include the following information on the cover page:
Contact person's name, phone, fax, email and mail address
Title of paper
Names and affiliations of all authors
A 200 word abstract (including scope of review, approach or method
of review, findings/ results, discussion and conclusion)
5 keywords
Date of Manuscript submission: July 1st, 2009
Guest editors will offer initial feedback and suggested revisions
with a blind review to follow.
Special Issue publication date: early 2010.

in the development of a special issue of
WORK: A Journal of Prevention, Assessment and Rehabilitation (IOS
Press)
which will focus exclusively on the topic of
Safety Programming and Occupational Performance
Scope
Health care, industry, and safety professionals are invited to
submit manuscripts on topics related to the impact of safety programs
at promoting occupational performance and overall health. Manuscripts
are further solicited for innovative safety programming across
the age span and across varied industrial or military applications.
Manuscripts are encouraged in the following areas:
1. Research studies providing evidence for safety interventions
that improve performance, reduce injuries, costs, or at risk behaviors
for specific populations.
2. Epidemiological studies identifying safety risks in specific
populations.
3. Literature reviews of recent literature related to a work-related
safety issue.
4. Descriptions of innovative programming or decision aids designed
to improve safety behaviors and outcomes.
5. Case studies of interdisciplinary safety programs.
6. Critical analyses of ethics and safety such as the influence
of ethics on safety management.
Submissions Format
A variety of presentation styles will be accepted
and authored by professionals of allied health or related disciplines
(occupational therapy, physical therapy, epidemiology, industrial
hygiene, safety, military
.. etc.)
1. Clinical and research papers (15-30 double spaced
pages)
2. Literature Reviews (10-12 double spaces pages)
3. Case studies (3-10 double space pages)
All submissions must be in electronic format using
Microsoft Word or PDF, in at least 11 point Arial font.
