The GSO is the official representative body of the graduate students in the Arts and Sciences at Boston University. General GSO meetings are held once a month (during the academic year) and all students in the Graduate School of Arts & Sciences are welcome to attend. GSO Meeting Date: Monday, November 9 Time: 5:30 pm Where: CAS 200 The fourth GSO general meeting of the semester will take place on October 19. All are invited and welcome to attend. Agenda Some info about NAGPS Parents Forum Meeting Date: Thursday, November 12 Time: 12:30 pm Where: CAS 200 The purpose of this forum is to meet and talk about issues that parents (or people planning to become parents) may face while in graduate school, and to discuss possible actions concerning those issues. Or it could be just a chance to compare stories and socialize with other parents. Or both! It's up to you. Feel free to bring a lunch (sorry, none provided), and any other interested parties. GSO Pub Night Date: Friday, November 13 Time: 5:30 pm Where: BU Pub Please join us for the last Pub Night of the semester! $1 drink tickets will be available and please remember to bring your ID and BU ID. Interdepartmental Graduate Research Seminar Organizational Meeting Date: Tuesday, November 17 Time: 5:30 pm Where: CAS 200 The GSO is planning to set up a series of graduate student seminars. Each speaker would present research they're working on, or introduce the audience to the questions they are trying to answer. Key issues: Selection of speakers and moderators How many seminars per semester/speakers per seminar? Days of the week/time of day/where to hold it Travel Grant Deadline Date: Tuesday, December 1 Time: 5 pm Where: via email Graduate students in eligible departments are encouraged to apply for $500 GSO grants to help cover expenses paid for travel to academic conferences. The deadline for spring 2010 travel grant applications is Tuesday, December 1, 5 p.m. Eastern time.
