US Military Aircraft

At 10:35 AM on December 14, 1903, a dream that started in a bike shop came true as Orville and Wilbur Wright made the first successful attempt at machine-powered flight. Since that historical day at Kitty Hawk, aircraft have advanced in technology, speed, and probably almost any aspect you can think of. One of the uses for the aircraft is combat. Fighter planes started as weak biplanes that could be shot down by a pebble if you could throw hard enough. Today, we have planes that can reach speeds of more than 1000 miles per hour. For example the A-10 Thunderbolt cruises at around 600 miles per hour. It is considered slow! Here are some planes that are used in the modern arsenal of the United States military.

F-16 Fighting Falcon

A-10 Thunderbolt

F-22 Raptor

F-117 Nighthawk

AH-64 Apache

AH-1 Cobra
