Midterm: Tuesday, March 27, 6:30. Makeups require an official excuse.
Course Material: We will cover chapters 8, 9 (9.1, 9.3, 9.5, 9.6) 10 (10.1, 10.3), 11, 12 and 13 of your text. This material includes hypothesis testing on the parameters of one population, comparisons of two populations, analysis of variance and regression. I will prepare handouts for each chapter, and extra exercises with solutions. Handouts/exercises will usually not be distributed in class. I will put them on the web, at the address

as pdf files, and inform you by email when new material is available. It is your responsability to download the course material from the course web page and print it out.
Course Mailing List: I will inform you of new materials/ deadline etc by email. If you want to receive course updating by email, you need to subscribe this mailing list. To do this, send me an email message at the address sebas@math.umass.edu, and specify your name, and code.
Grading: There will be 400 possible points, divided as follows:
Homework + Project: 100; Midterm 80; 5 Quizzes 100; Final 120. The final will be cumulative.
Grades will be assigned according to this scale:
0-49: F; 50-59: D; 60-64: CD; 65-74: C; 75-79: BC; 80-84: B; 85-89: AB; 90--100 A
Homework: You will have weekly homework assignments containing both written work and computing work to be done with Minitab. Homeworks must be handed in by 5pm of the given due date. Homework can be handed in at the end of class in the given due date.
Quizzes: There will be about 5 in class quizzes. I will announce them well in advance and post them on the web page for this course. There will be no makeups for missed quizzes.
Project: Details of the project will be posted later.
