Q. What can I expect of my staff?
A. Your staff will help you set up, serve, and clean up your event.

  • Prep Work: your staff will help you toss salads, set up the buffet and do other last minute details you may need.
  • Hors D’oeuvres: they will heat, tray, and place or pass any hors d’oeuvres that you supply.
  • Dinners / Lunches:
    • Buffets: Items needing heating will be heated. Buffets will be set up fully with all the supplies provided by you the customer.
    • Plated Meals: Items needing heating will be heated, then plated individually and served to you and your guests. (Remember your servers are not chefs)
  • Desserts & Coffee: Desserts & Coffee will be set up and served to your guests as you request - either on a buffet or individually.
  • Clean Up: Our staff will clean up throughout the function and once it is over. They will clean the kitchen area and other areas where the event takes place. The staff will pick up after your guests & themselves.(We do reserve the right not to handle your restrooms as we are handling your food)

Q. Is Simply Serving II a Catering Company?
A. No…Simply Serving II does not supply any menu items. You the customer can provide the menu for your event whether it is all home made or brought in from your favorite restaurants, caterers, take out, or even Pot Luck!
We do work with a number of local caterers and would be happy to refer you to one that suits your needs best!

Q. Does Simply Serving II provide rental equipment? (i.e. dishes, glass ware, etc.)
A. No. Simply Serving II provides staffing only. We can refer you to qualified rental companies in your area, and make suggestions on the best equipment you may need for your event.

Q. How many staff do I need for my event?
A. Each and every event is different ~ please call us to personalize your needs.

Q. Why do I need more than one server? I always do this party myself!
A. In reality you always have help. Whether is be your spouse, friend, mother, sister, brother, children, co-chair etc. When you place a uniformed staff person in your kitchen all of those helpful hands back away. You’re paying for help and they don’t want to get in the way. (Which is only right! That’s why you’re hiring us…so that you & your guests can enjoy the party)
However then you are leaving one server, to heat, pass, serve, set up, and clean up!
Let’s put it into perspective…if you brought the number of guests you are inviting to your event to a restaurant, how many wait staff would you expect to be serving you? Hmmm…….A restaurant also has a full kitchen staff, bar staff, and dishwashing staff! You & your guests want to enjoy the function. We will do our best to personalize your staffing needs.

Q. I only need one server. My children are going to help. Is this ok?
A. Not really. Our servers want to help make your event flow and run as smoothly as possible. We prefer to have staff that know what to do, when to do it, and that are working until the end of the event. Even the most helpful children will be drawn away from helping by your guests that want to catch up. Many children promise to help and then make plans for the evening. Many will help serve but don’t help with the clearing and clean up. And some children are just too young. It’s cute for them to pass a tray of hors d’oeuvres and this is ok - but please don’t consider them for staffing the whole event.

Q. What are the fees for Staffing?
A. Simply Serving II fees are competitive to our market. We charge $30.00 per hour per staff person. We have a four hour minimum. The time starts upon your staff’s arrival to your event.

Q. Do you charge travel time?
A. Depending on the location of the event. We have staff all around the Rt.128 area. So it is possible to find a staff person close to you. Most of the time there is no need. Out of state events will incur a travel fee.

Q. Gratuity / Tips is it included in your fee?
A. Gratuity is not included and is left to your discretion. We do suggest that you take good care of your staff; it makes them want to return to help you for your next event.
If it is an event with a large number of staff, (i.e. a wedding) we will make arrangements with you to add it to the invoice prior to the event.

Q. What is a “Good Tip”?
A. We suggest a $30.00 tip minimum per staff person for a four hour function. However if it is a longer function you would need to adjust this amount. If you totaled the food bill and service bill and figured 20% the amount would be a lot higher than $30.00 per server. Remember great tippers get great service!

Q. Where do we get our staff?
A. Most of our staff is referred from with in our organization. We feel that our servers will only refer someone they would be willing to work with. We do not advertise for help.

Q. Are the staff trained?
A. Yes…we provide training for all our staff. We also provide classes for “Safe Serving” and “Bar Code” certification.

Q. Can I request a specific staff person?
A. Of Course! Many of our staff have been with us since our inception. They have clients that request them for every event. It’s always easier to go back to a place they’ve worked before. Many of our staff meet potential clients at events we serve. We will do our best to get you the server you request. (However many of our staff are booked long in advance due to being requested) Book early!

Q. How early should I book my event?
A. As early as possible! As soon as you know the date, times, & location of your event, call us. We can start booking your staff. The closer you get to the date the smaller number of servers become available.

Q. Do you have a cancellation policy?
A. Yes. Our cancellation policy is as follows: Any staff cancelled within 48 hours prior to the staffs’ arrival time for the event incurs a fee of 50% of our four hour minimum. ($60.00 per server)

Q. Do you have servers in my area?
A. We have staff people in the greater Boston and surrounding areas. Their availability depends on the date & time of your event & their schedule. Book early!

Q. Do you provide Liquor Liability Insurance?
A. YES! We do provide liquor liability insurance. Our Liquor Liability insurance fee is $1.00 per adult guest. It covers our staff should there be any need for it. This fee is charged when ANY staff person pours alcohol at your event.

Q. The hall my event is at is requiring a certificate of Insurance. What does this mean?
A. This means the hall wants to be sure that our company carries general liability insurance and/or liquor liability insurance for your event. We do. Just call our office and our insurance agent will be happy to fax or mail one directly to the event coordinator at your site. Please have the correct address, phone # & fax # available.

Q. The hall my event is at is also requiring that they be listed as additionally insured. What does that mean?
A. This means the hall would like to be added onto our insurance policy for your event. This is ok too. However the insurance company charges us $50.00 to do so. That means this cost will be forwarded to you and added to your invoice.

Q. Is the staff uniformed?
A. Yes! Our staff is uniformed with freshly pressed tuxedo shirts & black pants. During the summer months or for more casual affairs we do have a white polo style shirt with our company name. You may choose which you’d like to have your staff wear.

Q. I’m using paper goods for my event. What things do I need?
A. See the link for party planning. It will give you a listing of all of your needs.

Q. I’m using china and glassware. Why do I need additional staffing?
A. To clean the dishes! Even rental companies want the dishes sent back clear of food. We rinse all dishware before returning it to the rental company. (Unless there is no water source at the site.) This will save you an additional cleaning fee often tacked on by the rental companies.
