Joe Anzalone's Healing Tao Journey:
I began studying Taoist Meditation practices as taught by Master Mantak Chiain 1987 with the encouragement of acupuncturist, Michael Turk, in Chico, California. Later that year, I joined the Peace Corps and served in Liberia, West Africa for several years, where I continued my studies through Mantak Chia's books. On return state-side, I was able to study with Master Chia during intensive weekend workshops in New York and Massachusetts. In January 2000, I began studying T'ai Chi and refining my meditation practices more intensively with one of the Senior Instructors of his system, Marie Favorito, Director of the Boston Healing Tao. I became certified as a Healing Tao Instructor, through the teacher training program in the summer of 2000, and began assisting in T'ai Chi and meditation classes of Marie and Judith Poole, another long-time instructor of the Healing Tao. In the fall of 2000, I began studying Yang-style long form T'ai Chi, and Ba Gua Chi Kung with Marie and her Sifu, Master Wei Lun Huang, a teacher of teachers. In summer of 2002, I passed the certification test for Master Chia's 13-movement Yang Style Tai Chi form by the Healing Tao Instructors' Association. In the summer of 2004, I passed certification for Iron Shirt I, a standing practice that helps one to develop proper alignment and a strong structure. In the summer of 2006, I qualified to teach Fusion Meditation, an advanced practice which works with the organs and their associated TCM 5 Element Theory negative and positive emotions to open the extraordinary channels. In June 2008, I became certified in Healing Love, a practice to conserve, nourish and recycle sexual energy, to improve health and vitality.
