This project is more involved. You can get some idea about the design and implementation of this project from the video clip. Although I had the support of a machinist, I think an undergraduate skillful in 3-D printing can pull this off as well. We use aluminum plate because we happen to have some around, hard plastic materials commonly used in 3-D printing should work as well. email me if you are interested in finding the parts or the Arduino code that drives the stepper motor.

Finally, I would love to hear your suggestions, technically and scientifically, so we can improve this project further. I think this implementation puts the lab worthy of serious neuroscience education and is a step beyond the SpikerBox all over internet.
