Marine Endolithic Cyanobacteria - 3
Hyella stella Al-Thukair et Golubic, acid-extracted from a carbonate
sand grain. Florida Keys, shallow subtidal. The organisms is quite
similar to the ancient Eohyella dichotoma, which penetrated ooid
sand grains of the late Proterozoic (see Marine Endolithic Cyanobacteria
- 5)(Al-Thukair & Golubic 1991b). Photo: courtesy of Dr. K. Lukas.
