Mimir's arrival from the SIF to our lab. Big Ben (warm bulkhead),
G10 collar, cold bulkhead and cold optical bench, with filter box
(not yet anodized). |

Domenic making up epoxy for the thin G10 shell to support the multi-layer
insulation (MLI) blanket that shields heat from the stainless steel
cryostat shell from getting into the cold shield. The large black
piece to Domenic's left is the mold about which the fiberglass and
epoxy were laid up to form the G10 shell. The shell is only some 0.030"
thick, and ends up supporting about 120 layers of the aluminized mylar
MLI. |

Closer view of mold. The sloped top is a minimalist match to the
curved, spun bottom of the stainless steel cryostat shell. |
