Research Opportunities

Each year, the Buston Lab seeks one or two sophomores to join the lab. In the first year, the position involves learning to maintain large saltwater aquarium systems and care for saltwater aquarium fish. Looking beyond the first year, there will be an opportunity to participate in research in the lab and qualified students may go on to develop an honors thesis. Projects currently being conducted by our undergraduates include an investigation of the function of clownfish coloration (Cara Martone) and an investigation of the mutualistic relationship between clownfish and their host sea anemones (Athbah Almuhairi). Sophomore Biology and Marine Science majors, interested in animal behavior, population ecology and marine ecology, are encouraged to apply. Please send a short statement explaining why you are interested in working in the lab, along with a CV and unofficial copy of your transcript.
