This delightful allegory, set in medieval times, has much to teach us all, both young and old, about what it means to believe and trust God. It is a reminder that we are all valued and precious to God, that we can choose who to listen to, and that the saying "By dying to self we can live in freedom" can be just as true for us today as it is for the characters in this story. A man with a history is in hospital facing a risky operation. He is worried about his past and calls for a Roman Catholic priest. He gets a trainee Protestant chaplain with profound doubts about his faith. The conversation between these two characters proves transformative for both. Two bunraku puppets sensitively and gracefully depict Mary, the mother of Jesus and Mary Magdalene. They both experience the grace of God in their lives. Through music, movement and puppetry this piece demonstrates the strength and courage that the Holy Spirit gives them, and us, to face the cross and beyond. Sung live to a backing tape this beautiful and moving song tells the journey Jesus takes to the cross. Some powerfully simple drama using mask takes place during the song. A silent reflection time is suggested following this piece. A blaze of colourful silks make their way through your congregation! This is a lively and colourful procession involving children in a fun and spontaneous way. It uses celebratory music, movement and slides and is a perfect way to begin or end your Easter Sunday Service.
