Pierce, who holds an MFA from the Bennington Writing Seminars, has received the following notice for his writing:

•Special Mention in Pushcart Prize XXX: Best of the Small Presses (2006 edition), for his essay “Fabulously Real”

•Finalist for Glimmer Train’s Short Story Award for New Writers, for his story “Compotes”

•A Vermont Studio Center Grant

•The LeBaron Russell Briggs Award from Harvard University’s English department, where he studied poetry with Seamus Heaney
