Even without the ice pick, the Trebs are a sharp bunch.  Founded in 1994 as “Nickel and Dime,” the group became Boston University’s youngest a cappella mix.  With youth as their muse, the Nickel and Dimers developed a reputation for energetic, fun-loving performances and skits.  They wowed BU audiences in the early days with entertaining events such as, “My concert’s name is BOB,” and other humorous ventures.
There were dark days ahead for the group, though.  A rift formed over musical direction, and Nickel and Dime’s days ran dry.  The group disbanded without a plan for the future, leaving a bitter thumbprint inside many of the members.  In 1996, a few former Nickel and Dimers shunned the dramatic past and formed a new group with a new constitution.  The advent of the Treblemakers stood upon the rocks of fun, love, and music.   There would be no pedestal for drama or politics; only a small stool, for penguins.  In celebration of the promising new Treb ethos, the group released their first album, Treble in the Waters, to commemorate a future that looked like fun.
