Lauren Cooper - PhD candidate
lcooper@bu.edu

MS - UCLA
BS - Penn State University

Lauren is making some of the first-ever measurements of volatiles in melt inclusions from Tonga Arc rocks in the southwest Pacific. She's interested in relating water contents to subduction zone convergence rates.

    Jennifer Wade - PhD candidate
jwade@bu.edu

MS - Michigan State University
BS - Boston College

Jenn is studying volatiles and trace elements in olivine-hosted melt inclusions from the Central American and Mariana Arcs, measuring H2O in nominally anhydrous minerals like pyroxene, and working to develop a pyroxene-based hygrometer. Check out her adventures in the Marianas here.

Mindy Zimmer - PhD candidate
mzimmer@bu.edu

MS - University of New Mexico
BS - Michigan State University

Rather than join her cohorts in warm, tropical field areas, Mindy studies volatiles in melt inclusions from the Aleutian Arc. She is using magmatic water data to help clarify the origin of tholeiitic vs. calc-alkaline fractionation trends.
