Boston Lindy Kats     Swing Dance at Boston University

WHO WE ARE   •   WHEN WE DANCE   •   HOW TO FIND US

BLK holds meetings at least once a week. An ordinary meeting consists of assembling at a specified area on the BU campus (usually the lobby of Warren Towers) and taking the T to a venue around Boston. The great thing about Boston's swing dancing scene is that social dances and/or lessons are held almost every day of the week!

There are a few websites and forums that host calendars advertising all of the dances around Boston. Check out this calendar, this very efficient calendar, and this forum.

Here are some of the places we frequent (click the links for more information):

Wednesdays @ MIT
Free lesson from 7:30 to 9:00 pm, followed by free social dancing from 9:00 to 11:00 pm. Check out their calendar to see where each dance will be held. The lessons vary by week, so make sure to sign up with their mailing list (you can do it at the dance) to find out what will be taught. Once every month MIT teams up with the Harvard Swing Kids to host the weekly lesson/dance at Harvard University.

Monday Night Practice
The Five Guys Named Mike host a lesson and social dance in the First Church just outside of Harvard Square. This venue costs money ($10 for the lesson & dance, or just $5 for the lesson), but the scene here is hip and filled with both beginners and experienced dancers. Lindy hop lessons are taugth for the first three Mondays, and on the last Monday of the month, Mike teaches a cool, challenging move. The lesson occurs from 7:30 to 8:30 pm, with social dancing following until 10:45 pm.

Fridays @ Swing City
Swing City is a hip venue in Newton Centre where you get to dance to a live band! Admission is only $10 with your student ID, and you get a free lesson along with the payment. The lesson is held from 7:30 to 8:30 pm, and social dancing follows from 8:30 pm to midnight.

Saturdays @ Uptown Swing Dance Club
This venue hosts live bands once a month in Brookline. For $10 with your student ID you get a beginner lesson from 8:30 to 9:00 pm and social dancing until midnight.

Saturdays @ Boston Swing Dance Network in Watertown
Hosted once a month in Watertown, you can dance at this venue for $10 with your student ID. Beginner lessons run from 8:00 to 9:00 pm, and the live band plays from 9:00 pm to midnight.
