How To Join: Tech

Assignments: Each Stage Troupe production has its own technical crew. All crew members are assigned by the Technical Advisor to a position based on interest and skill. Unlike actors, technicians can work on more than one show if they so choose. Depending on difficulty and interest, many positions also include assigned assistants.


Technical Positions:

Stage Manager- works closely with the director, attending every rehearsal and running the show on the performance nights.


Master Carpenter- leades the build crew and is chiefly responsible for the construction of the show’s set.

Lighting Designer- works with the director to design the lighting of the show, hanging lighting instruments and creating cues.

Sound Designer- finds all music and sound effects, running the sound board during the show (including microphones for muscials).

Costume Designer- finds or makes all of the show’s costumes, helping with costume changes during the show if necessary.

Props Master/Mistress- finds or creates all properties required for the production, placing them before the show begins.

Make-up Artist- applies necessary stage make-up to actors priod to the show and designs any special looks that may be needed.

Set Designer- works closely with the director to draft a version of the set design.

Set Decorator- responsible for colors, furnishings, and other elements of the set.

Build/Run Crew- responsible for the construction of the set and any set changes that must be made during the production.
