Captain
Dolby O' Doobie had been born too late and too mediocre. Some men are
born mediocre, some men achieve mediocrity, and some have mediocrity thrust
upon them. With The Captain, it had been all three. Even among men
lacking more distinction than all the rest, all people who met him were always
impressed by how unimpressive he was.
The Captain was known not by his given name, but by the curious
nickname of "Andy Taylor." The origin of this name is unclear,
but some speculate Duran Duran was somehow involved. Growing up in Pittsburgh,
PA, an unremarkable town in its own right, The Captain bided his time until
his eventual matriculation into the warm, caring bosom of Boston University.
It was here that Andy found his second family, Slow Children At Play.
The Captain is the current President of Slow Children At Play, leading this
magnificent troupe in much the same manner of a Chester A. Arthur or Millard
Fillmore. When not busy philosophizing, The Captain spends most of his
time listening to the rock 'n' roll and trying hard to become a very average
drummer.
Slow Children At Play will finally be rid of The Captain when he
graduates in May of 2002. Hopefully this bellicose fellow will be able
to charm his way into some law school in order to fufill his desire of becoming
a lawyer of some sort. No doubt he will continue in his proud tradition
of mediocrity.
