Joan Salge Blake is a member of the American Dietetic Association and the Massachusetts Dietetic Association (MDA). Salge Blake was previously named MDA's "Young Dietitian Of The Year" and past Director of Education for the MDA and board member. Salge Blake was awarded the 2001 Whitney Powers Excellence in Teaching Award from BU and the 2007 Outstanding Dietetic Educator from the American Dietetic Association.

Forbes Magazine's "Best Of The Web 2001" issue named Salge Blake's nutrition column as one of the best features in the Diet and Nutrition category.
