A 150-pound person who pulls weeds, plants a garden, mows the lawn, or rakes leaves would expend anywhere from 111 calories (raking) to about 145 calories (weeding or planting seeds) to a whopping 225 calories (mowing) for each half hour spent doing these outside chores. Cancel the lawn service -- it'll do your waist good. |
