John
Sisk Program Director, Varsity Boys Coach
John
Sisk rowed in high school and college, and has become
very active in competing, coaching,
and organizing in recent years. He's a Level III Certified coach
by USRowing. He has been an assistant coach at
CRI and Boston Latin School, and head coach at Mystic Valley Regional
Charter School and Brandeis University. John was elected to the Board of Trustees
of the Carnegie Lake Rowing Association in Princeton, NJ, and chaired its
competition and safety committees. He currently rows competitively with
Riverside Boat Club. He has raced at
Masters Nationals, FISA Worlds and in the Head of the Charles. John resides in Brookline.
Joel Skaliotis Varsity Girls Coach Joel
Skaliotis began rowing in high school at Phillips Andover and continued
as a member of the lightweight team during his tenure at Cornell, where
he won the Coach's Award upon graduation in 2001.Joel began coaching shortly thereafter as assistant coach with the Community Rowing Junior Women, working as the assistant where his crews took three silver and two bronze medals at the national championships during the 2002 and 2003 spring and summer sessions. Joel took over as head coach at Brookline in 2004 and brought home State Championships in the 2004 and 2005 seasons. Rebecca Waite Junior Varsity Girls Coach At the suggestion of her doctor, Rebecca began rowing in high school while rehabilitating a broken leg. At Albany Rowing Club (ARC), Rebecca learned to scull, specializing in the single and double. After attending college in Chicago, she moved back east and picked up the sport again with Barnstable Rowing Club where she learned the art of sweep rowing. Since then she has rowed on the masters team at ARC, Riverside and Community Rowing, Inc. where she rows currently. Prior to joining the Brookline coaching staff, Rebecca coached the novice team at The Winsor School. Olumide ”Bo” Adebo Junior Varsity Boys Coach Olumide ”Bo”
Adebo
was a member of the University of Minnesota, Men’s crew team from
1992 to 1994. He
continued his rowing after
moving to Boston in 1998 at Community Rowing as well as competing in the CRASH-B World Indoor Rowing
Championships. Most recently in 2007 his lightweight four won the Textile Regatta in Lowell and he also rowed in the 2007 Head of the Charles stroking CRI’s master men 8+. In addition to rowing, Olumide also coaches high school squash and has competed in two US open championships at the 3.5 level as well as a finalist at the Atlanta Masters tournament. Olumide is currently working as a Project Management consultant. Novice Girls Coach Mari Folco is
currently a Boston University undergraduate student. She rowed at Brookline
High School for four years and was a part of the boats that won the
Massachusetts State Championship and the Q cup. Mari also ran cross
country and track at Brookline and was a captain of the three teams in
2004/2005. Since then she has continued to row at Community Rowing,
Inc. and at Imperial College in London (while studying abroad).Mari has been coaching at Brookline since 2007. She has also been involved in coaching Boston University's adult recreational rowing programs since the summer of 2008. Emily Cura Novice Boys Coach Emily
Cura is the new novice boys coach. She rowed at the College of
the Holy Cross in their lightweight 8. She was part of the
boat that won the Patriot League Championship and medaled in both
the New England Championship and the ECAC National Invitation Regatta.
After a year of volunteering in Ecuador, Emily moved to Colorado and coached the University of Colorado Women's Novice 8. She is currently working on her Masters in Religion, Ethics and Politics at Harvard University. Katy Ruderman Assistant Coach Katy Ruderman is an
undergraduate at Boston University, majoring in elementary education
and environmental science. She began rowing in 2004 as a freshman
at Brookline High School under the direction of coach Joel
Skaliotis. Katy was in boats that won the state championship, Q
cup, and medaled at regionals. She also swam for Brookline, and
as a senior was captain of both the swim team and crew team. Katy
was a member of the Boston University crew team, where she
competed as part of the novice eight in the Foot of the Charles. |
