Food Drive
Volunteers participate in organizing and hosting food drives on campus and throughout the community. Volunteers then pack and deliver the food to the local ARC chapter where the food is distributed to those who need it.
Food Pantry
The American Red Cross of Massachusetts Bay operates a Food Pantry in Boston at 1033 Massachusetts Avenue, Boston MA 02118. Clients include senior citizen immigrants, single parents, families in transition, low-income families, homeless individuals, and those living with HIV. Approximately 4,000 individuals benefit from the program each month.
The Food Pantry operates on Wednesdays and Saturdays, from 9am to 12pm. BU volunteers donate their time on Saturdays, but feel free to volunteer more on your own time. Clients receive a three-day supply of groceries once a month. To be eligible to use the food pantry, individuals must meet income guidelines set out by the USDA and present ID for each member of their household.
