abies are Very Smart !
he brain in a newborn infant is
ready to take in vision and sounds. Their brains can begin to organize these
experiences from birth.
As an
experiment a father read a Dr. Seuss book to a child in the womb before the
child was born. After birth the new born infant would turn his head toward the
father reading the same Dr. Seuss book and would not turn as much toward a
stranger reading the book or the father reading another book. This experiment
showed that the infant’s brain is ready to remember sounds and to organize
them.
Similarly newborns are
nearsighted and focus best at about 18 inches, but at that distance they can
easily patterns of checks, spirals and faces.
For new
parents this means they can talk to children in complete sentences right from
birth. If a baby sees a dog, parents can describe what is happening—"The dog is
running down the street. I think he is looking for a cat." By the time a baby
begins to talk at about 1 ½ years she will know that dogs have fur, have
tails, have paws, chase cats, chase squirrels, bark and whine. The baby will
have all of the words that describe dog stored away ready to
use.
Music
seems to be soothing for infants. Classical and traditional music seems the most
calming and interesting for infants. ‘Soft rock’ is in the middle and
‘hard rock’ irritates infants. I think all parents should sing to their children
regularly. This is one of the few times that ‘hard rock’ is acceptable, but
remember infants hearing is excellent, so you don’t have to sing too loud close
to them.
Many child care professionals
recommend that all children be given Mozart CD's as an essential baby present
.
