    Parks, relatives, churches and other groups help parents meet other parents of infants and toddlers. Even young children enjoy friendships with children their age.

     Be sure that these parents are people who not only respect and support you and your child but also respect all other human beings. An "us versus them" mentality can help a child create a paranoid world view that those bad "others" are going to get "us" and need to be treated poorly. Intolerant families who teach about the evils of certain types of people sometimes express genuine surprise when their children turn violent toward these people.

     Haters are not your children's friends. You can teach your children to have basic respect for haters, but you don't need to expose them to hateful speech too early.
    Basing superiority or inferiority on science is a perversion of science, and basing superiority or inferiority on religion is a perversion of the great religions of the world.
