Research Interests and Work in Progress

Primary research areas

Migration and remittances

My broad research interests are centered around the role of remittances in the development of poor households and countries.  More specific questions of interest include: What influence do remittances have on their recipients?  What incentives govern migrants' sending of remittances?  What is the relationship between remittances and economic shocks?  What light do existing models of the household and of international trade and finance shed on these questions?
