Salary for a Day
Dear Fellow BUSL Upper-Classmen,
The Public Interest Project needs your support this year. Some of you are pursuing big firm life next summer or in your post-graduate future. While that life comes with long hours, it also comes with generous compensation. When thinking about all the wonderful things you can do with it, consider PIP. Please donate one day of your salary to PIP.
That one day provides more than one week of a PIP grant to a student doing amazing public interest work, whether it is for a DA, for a domestic violence shelter, or helping establish a new legal system in India. The distance your generous gift will go is staggering:
- One day of salary = 2% of summer associate salary (based on 10 weeks)
- One day of salary = 0.4% of first year associate salary at a big firm
- One day of salary = 15% of a summer PIP grant (10 weeks)
Many of you either received a grant or know friends who did. This is the way that you can make it possible for others. All you have to do is fill out a pledge form, and after your bank account is full, write out a check. It's easy and tax deductible (a whole week would almost match the standard tax deduction). You won't even notice it, but a 1L or 2L pursuing public interest will depend on it. Thank you from all of us at PIP.
