Paul Goldberg is a geologist and Professor in the Department of Archaeology, Boston University. His research focuses on the discernment of site formation processes and in particular, the application of micromorphological techniques to the study of cave deposits in Europe, the Near East, China, South Africa, and the USA. He is also applying the technique to elucidate the behavioral significance of anthropogenic deposits from Pleistocene sites in the Old World to 18th century buildings in New England.
