Our Shows

Every semester, OB mounts two musical productions: a Mainstage and a Showcase.

The Mainstage is a book musical that runs for three performances in one weekend a semester. Past examples of our Mainstage productions include classics like West Side Story and Cabaret and newer, edgier pieces like Reefer Madness and Bat Boy. When considering options for a Mainstage, think about how the piece best accommodates the group's budget, technical resources, and talent pool.

The Showcase is a revue-style production that runs for two performances in one weekend a semester. In recent years, the Showcase production has found residence at the Jacob Sleeper Auditorium. Showcase productions can be compilations of one composer's work (like No Day But Today: A Tribute to Jonathan Larson or When You Believe: The Songs of Stephen Schwartz), historical retrospectives (like You Can't Stop the Beat: 50 Years of Broadway), or groups of songs based around a common theme (like A Night in Oz: Songs from The Wizard of Oz, The Wiz, and Wicked). Use your creativity! This is your chance to create an entirely new piece of theater!

If you are interested in "pitching" a Mainstage or Showcase musical proposal to the OB Eboard, email onbrdway@bu.edu and check the homepage periodically for "pitch" due dates!
