Values
My personal and professional values will impact my
overall experience in medicine and the quality of life outside of my
career. These factors will also
determine the lifestyle
I choose to lead. The following table
contains my system of values in order of importance.
The system of values I have established for myself will directly
impact both my personal and professional life. These values provide a solid foundation for
the relationships I form with others and the decisions I make. There exists some overlap in the personal
and professional values which I find most important. Being moral and ethical, maintaining
fulfilling relationships with others and being my own person comprise my core
belief system. Beyond these essential
components, there is some diversity between the values which predominate in
my own personal life and my career. My personal values evolve around leading a healthy, fulfilling
lifestyle that allows me to be a supportive, loving and contributing member
of my family and community.
Furthermore, since a career in medicine evolves around one’s interpersonal
skills, my professional values are focused on maintaining positive
relationships with my colleagues and patients and being an active learner
throughout my career. |
