I am a Ph.D. student in Hispanic Language and Literatures
in Boston University's Department of Romance Studies. My advisor is
Adela E. Pineda
and my current research centers on the literary representation of the so-called "degenerate"
artistic genius in Latin America. Specifically, I am analyzing the work
of Julián del Casal, Enrique Gómez Carrillo, and Manuel Gutierrez Nájera.
I am originally from Puebla, Mexico. Before coming to Boston, I spent over
seven years studying and teaching Hispanic-American literature in several
different universities in Mexico and Ecuador. I love teaching, and I am
particularly interested in new and effective ways of teaching students about
Hispanic culture, particularly in the areas of film, painting, literature, and history.
