Dr. Evenson’s
interests include the application of academic learning into the fieldwork
experience, examining the both the scholarship of application/practice and
that of teaching. The ultimate goal is to prepare students to be effective
practitioners in delivering client-centered, meaningful healthcare services.
She manages the academic fieldwork program and teaches courses designed to
integrate students’ knowledge in preparation for practice. Dr. Evenson has
published on topics related to fieldwork, authoring the chapter on fieldwork
in the 11th edition of Willard and
Spackman’s Occupational Therapy. She is also a contributing author to the
American Occupational Therapy Association’s (AOTA) Certification for
Fieldwork Educator (CFWE) training that is being launched in 2009. Her
clinical background has involved working throughout the continuum of care in
physical medicine and rehabilitation settings. Additionally, she has
experience with staff development and clinical education as well as student
program coordination. Dr. Evenson actively participates in forums and
councils addressing fieldwork issues, presenting workshops at local,
regional, national, and international conferences. She is a member of the
American Occupational Therapy Association, the World Federation of
Occupational Therapists, the Massachusetts Association of Occupational
Therapy, and the New England Occupational Therapy Education Council. |
