This website is about my work as an Assistant Professor in the Sociology Department and in Women’s, Gender & Sexuality Studies at Boston University.
I study the intersections of culture and markets, and how people assign value to things. In my teaching and research, I examine how cultural commodities become valuable, with a focus on how ideas of gender, race, and class inform the production and change of culture.
I studied sociology at the University of Georgia and at Hunter College, and attended graduate school at New York University, where I completed my Ph.D. in 2009.
