Research Interests

My research interest is the perception of speech by persons with normal hearing and with hearing loss and also work on the relation between speech perception and speech production in people who use cochlear implants. I am a research affiliate with the Speech Communication Group, Research Laboratory of Electronics at MIT. We use basic properties of speech perception and production speech synthesis techniques, articulator measurements, and extensive acoustic analyses to test our hypotheses about perception/production issues.

Another project is to evaluate the effects of therapeutic intervention on speech of people who have Parkinson's disease. These data were collected by colleagues at Boston University Center for Neurorehabilitation and analyses are ongoing.
