We arrived in Montreal on Tuesday night, July 3rd, after picking up Sarah at UNH. We settled into the Delta Hotel which is located a block away from the Jazz festival site. We then took a walk down to Old Montreal. Nancy and I thought we remembered a restaurant from our previous trip. The restaurant is FORGET, pronounced four-gay in French. However, both Sarah and Daniel swore that the restaurant was in Quebec City. Well, guess who was correct? Yes, it was the parents. We had dinner at the restaurant and even met Madame Forget. So, to remember the occasion we have a picture of Daniel and a picture of me at the restaurant. Oh, I am holding a menu.

The next day we had a late breakfast, wandered around a bit, and at noon saw a jazz singer by the name of Diane Nalini. Her style is very much like Ella Fitzgerald with a little bit of Mel Torme thrown in for good measure. As we wandered through the entire Jazz site, which is the size of about one mile square, we constantly saw the mascot of the festival which is a cat. What you can now see is one picture and then another showing statues of these jazzcats. There was also a banner which showed the mascots. Lastly we have Sarah posing with one of the statues.

You can also see the mascot on a poster which has the mascot. Daniel sat down in the festival area next to one of the posters.

On Thursday we travelled from Montreal to Old Quebec City. The Old City is divided into two main levels since it is essentially built on the edge of a Mountain. To gain access to the lower level you must either go down a long twisting staircase, through a set of roads, or use a funicular. As you go down the stairs you can see the lower part of the city and the next picture shows Daniel, Nancy and Sarah and gives you an inkling of the crowded streets and the change in elevation. On the way back I took a picture which shows the funicular really gives you a real feeling for the change in elevation.

Believe it or not, one of the reasons we travelled three hours from Montreal to Quebec City was so we could go to the restaurant called the crazy pig, which in french is Le Cochon Dingue. This is a wonderful restaurant serving all sorts of meats. While the food is delicious it is very low key and we were able to eat outside while we watched a gazillion people walk by. So now, for you people who are constantly telling me we have no pictures of me, and darn few of Nancy, I now present you with a picture of me and one of the two of us.
