Dime store novel
Dime store novel is a scene game for five or more players.
The audience suggests a book title or genre. One person, the "author," sits on a chair at the side of the stage. The others begin off-stage at the other end.
The author mimes typing a story, narrating out loud. The other actors act out the story.
While the autor's words direction takes precedence, the actors can speak as well.
To add variety, the author can say “Chapter _, the _____” or “delete” or “Screw that, I’m starting over” or “No, I don’t like that, I’m deleting this character.”
Alternate form: Dear diary (aka My diary)
Here, the story is a first-person narrative describing a single day. There are no chapters or corrections. The author mimes writing instead of typing.
