BLUE MODERN by David Nez

Two black ravens flew
From Nikshich to Kojrenich.
They were not two black ravens,
But two dear comrades.
They were seeking young maidens,
Maidens of their own age.
They were Beg Lakishich of Mostar,
And Beg Ljubovich of Odzhak.
The girls of Trebinje heard of it
And agreed among themselves:
"Mostar is a fine town,
But compared to Odzhak it is a village.
Yet even if it is a very little village,
There are begs and agas in it."
