BLUE BEAT by David Nez

A brief, sad letter
came to Ljubovich's house.
Ljubovich looked at it and read it.
Then he threw it on the table for his mother.
"See, dear mother,
It is from beg Lakishich.
See what beg Lakishich writes us;
That Hajkuna is untrue,
And is no longer mine,
But Lakishich's.
Besides, he asks for my brown horse
For the girl to ride in the wedding procession!"
