[personal and academic info]   ::   [note from the relevant party, just b4 the juice: in a moment of immeasurable modesty and utmost fairness, i [kostas] gave all legal rights to my biography as it appears below to kk-rules, a publishing company that vows to exercise objectiveness and truth in a society that is constantly devastating these last two qualities. what is written below has been composed [and has escaped censorship for the most part of the blank spaces in the text] by one of this great publishing company's journalists.]

kostas was born and raised in athens, greece. after a happy normal childhood, his teenage years demanded that he should study math in the university of athens... [quote taken from a personal interview: "those were the days, my friend. hope was everywhere in the air. i thought i was out for great things. then, everything crumbled to nothingness."]

a masters in business mathematics followed [whenever we asked kk about this period in his life all we got was a smirk; we never knew what this meant]. during a summer school in greece [that, according to him, was "mostly filled with alcoholic nights, mornings and afternoons, swimming, sunbathing and the occasional going to class"] he got introduced to ioannis karatzas, who tried to convince him to continue his studies towards a phd degree.

after disregarding this last advice [an act of vast unthoughtfullness, as future ruthlessly revealed], kostas found a job as a cook and all-purpose crew on a cruiser traveling the atlantic. on the left you see a picture of him when he first arrived in new york early this century [his words: "this picture of mine was taken after a horrible case of scurvy that left me half-dead; thus the ghostly appearance, that faithfully persevered afterwards."]

soon as the cruiser docked, he took a shore leave. after walking her dirty [but ever-so-inviting] streets he finally decided to stay for phd at columbia university, since this seemed considerable easier than having to stay on board with a dozen of drunk men with at least half-a-dozen of glass eyes.

four-and-a-half years passed [his master's voice again: "like four-and-a-half nanoseconds... hey, guys, off the record: did this sound poetic at all? no? you all think so? ok, cut it!"] and he finished hisphd. information on how to do so and keep yourself half-sane can be given gratis by contacting this good man.

since january 2006, he is working as assistant professor at boston university. his up-to-date research has been focused on stochastic finance, but he becomes fascinated in everything that has to do with randomness. when asked he replied: "i am very open... what? what do you mean 'what do i mean?' well, i mean 'open to all areas of probability.' what did you think i meant?"
