Mobile robot platforms feature servo-driven wheels, IR distance sensors, RS232 communications.
Using wire-connected RS232 communication, pairs of robots executed leader-follower motions in which only the lead robot had real-time awareness of obstacles in the environment. Future generations will involve swarms of the robots with communications mediated by Bluetooth technology.
