GMSSO is Committed to Improving Student Health Care

Concerns: The current Student Medical Insurance Plan (2007-2008) needs improvement. Since the creation of the GMSSO we have been discussing our health care concerns with the GMS Chairman, Dr. Carl Franzblau and the Dean of the Medical School, Dr. Karen Antman. Some improvements have been made, however there are still major concerns with the current plan including limited coverage of preventative medicine and only a $1,500 maximum on prescription benefits.

In repsonse to our concerns, some improvements have been made for the current school year. Some key changes include:

1. Increased plan maximum (from $75,000 to $250,000)
2. Implemented a $2,500 out of pocket maximum
3. Removed $2,500 outpatient maximum
4. Removed $5,000 surgical maximum
5. Increase in prescription coverage from $1,000 to $1,500
