Introduction

me in a red striped shirt

Let me start by introducing myself. My name is Angelina. I am 26 years old. I live in East Boston with my boyfriend, our cat Shi, and our snake Trixie. Currently I am attending Boston University for Biomedical Science and I work for a Pharmaceutical Company in Cambridge.

One of my favorite things to do is cook. Nothing gives me greater joy than cooking a big meal. It can also be a very relaxing activity once you get the basics down.

I understand there are so many excuses for not learning to cook: no time, too busy, too much work, etc. Working full time and going to school is no picnic. It is a relaxing and creative activity. But most of all, cooking for yourself is one of the most rewarding things you can ever accomplish.

In the following pages I am going to cover some cooking basics. I will discuss proper cookware and tools. I will also go over some cooking tips, how to properly use a stovetop and oven. I will cover some food storage tips and methods of defrosting. I will also go over some organizational tips as well as how to keep your space clean as you cook. Then I will offer some basic recipes to get you started with.

Recipes are used as a base for your meal. While you are getting started I would suggest following the recipes step by step. However as you get more comfortable with basic cooking methods you should try to branch out and try new flavor combinations.

I hope you find this information helpful. Just remember to breathe, have fun, and accept mistakes as part of the learning process. Bon Appetite
