| Short CV |
In 2000, Ernst graduated at the Higher Institute of Technical Education for Software Engineering in Villach, Austria. Then, he started his Computer Science studies at the Vienna University of Technology, Vienna, Austria, and received his Master of Science (MSc) degree in June 2007. Besides his studies, Ernst was working as a part-time software engineer and system administrator.
After completing his civilian service in March 2008, which is mandatory in Austria, he started to work as a project assistant and PhD candidate at the Distributed Systems Group (DSG) at the Vienna University of Technology. He has been supervised by Prof. Dr. Schahram Dustdar and Prof. Dr. Uwe Zdun. Ernst has received his PhD degree in March 2011. During his PhD studies, Ernst was doing research on Design Patterns, Software Architectures, Domain-specific Languages (DSL), Model-driven Development (MDD), Service-oriented Architectures (SOA), Quality-of-Service (QoS), and Service Level Agreements (SLA).
In January 2012, Ernst started as a Postdoctoral Research Associate at the Cross-disciplinary Integration of Design Automation Research (CIDAR) lab at Boston University, lead by Prof. Dr. Douglas Densmore. He is researching on domain-specific languages, software applications and frameworks, and data exchange standards tackling the bio-design automation challenges of the synthetic biology field.
