ABOUT EXPOSURE INITIATIVE
Exposure Initiative, originally an independent study project developed by BU student Talia Frenkel, grew into a club dedicated to bringing photography to urban schools with suffering arts programs. Its main goal is to give students an outlet to creatively express themselves.
In September 2004, a small group of dedicated BU students launched the Exposure Initiative program at the Mission Grammar School in Roxbury, MA. The weekly workshops gave the middle school students an introduction to photography and a new way to creatively express themselves.
Since then, Exposure Initiative has flourished, its membership expanding and its program succeeding. The members currently hold weekly photography workshops in three different middle school classes.
Every April, Exposure Initiative displays an exhibit of the best student work from the entire year. This cumulative gallery gives the BU community a chance to see the student work. Exposure Initiative also holds an annual silent auction fundraising gallery every November. Our last event raised over $1300.00 and was a huge success for the club.
