| Hi, my name is Soohyun Lee. I studied under prof. Zhiping Weng, prof. Simon Kasif and prof. Charles Cantor while I was a graduate student at Boston University. Prof. Weng has moved since 2008 to Univ. Massachusetts Medical School (UMMS) as a director of Bioinformatics and Integrative Biology Program, where I began working as a postdoc in Jan 2009. Main Research Interests : Currently, I participate in development of computational pipeline and perform various statistical analyses for small RNA deep sequencing data in D.melanogaster (fruit fly), in collaboration with Prof.Phil Zamore and Prof.Bill Theurkauf. I also work with Prof. Nick Rhind on identification and analysis of Yeast replication origins, based on true single molecule sequencing (Helicos). Education : Jan 2009, Ph.D. in bioinformatics, Boston University. Feb 2002, B.S. in biological sciences w/ minor in applied mathematics, Korea Advanced Institute of Science & Technology (KAIST), Korea Paper Publication :
Other Research Interests : | I have previous research experience on the following subjects: Simulation of evolution, codon volatility, chronic myeloid leukemia, chromosomal instability, miRNA target prediction, RNA secondary structure, RNA degradation via ARE, stomach cancer susceptibility, population association studies, RNA editing in human, CTCF, ChIP-chip and ChIP-seq data analysis, mammalian 3'UTR, Support vector machine, suffix tree, Naive Bayes, Markov process.
Teaching Experience : | I have tought the following lectures : * Markov model (BF561, DNA and protein sequence analysis, 2004, TA) * Hidden Markov model (BF561, DNA and protein sequence analysis, 2004, TA) * Unix and Perl (3 labs, BF561, DNA and protein sequence analysis, 2004, TA) * Pairwise sequence alignment (BF561, DNA and protein sequence analysis, 2007, guest lecturer) * "Introduction to biostatistics for genomic-scale technologies" (Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory 2007 Systems Biology Workshop)
Hobbies : | From time to time I make computer games for fun. When I have more time, I like to learn about sharks and to travel aquariums. Making and listening to music and practicing ballet help me stay happy and healthy.
