Concerts

Each semester, members of Dance Theatre Group put on a semi-professional performance that is organized and danced by group members and choreographed by student, alumni and faculty. The show is open to the BU community and the public. In the past, DTG concerts have been reviewed by news outlets such as the Boston Globe.

How do I go about getting involved in the concert?

Any one can participate in the concert. There's plenty to be done!

1. Choreographer - If you want to choreograph, just say so! You must have been a member for at least one semester and have attended the showings to understand the selection and production process. If you need dancers you can announce the number of dancers you need and the type of movement your piece will focus on (e.g. athletic, lyrical, balletic, experimental or jazzy) so those considering your piece will have an idea of what is expected. Rehearsal times are available at the first meeting.

2. Dancer - If you want to dance just let the choreographers know you're available and are interested in their piece. If your schedule does not coincide with their rehearsal time, ask another choreographer about their piece. Please remember that once you agree to be in a piece, it is a commitment and you're expected to be at each rehearsal!

3. Tech crew - DTG allows you to learn stage craft as well. The concert requires a light board operator, sound technician, stage manager, house managers, and gel changers.

4. Committees - In order to produce the concert, we need your help! Committees are formed to organize publicity of the concert, organize the table in the GSU, and oversee the box office and concession stand. Just ask the Program Coordinator how you can sign up for serving on a committee.
