Summary Exercise II
Secondary Source

Summarize John Halverson's article, "Ganelon's Trial," in approximately 350 words.

The purpose of this assignment is to help you to become more familiar with this text and to clarify the distinction between summary and argument. While summary may be a necessary part of an argument, students too often write summaries when they should be arguing. In this assignment, do not critique Halverson's interpretation. Do not establish and argue your own position with respect to Halverson's. Rather, determine the main points of Halverson's argument and present them in a concise and logically consistent manner, employing clear prose with appropriate transitional connections.
