Dustin A. Hickey
I am a graduate student at Boston University, working towards my Ph.D in Astronomy. I graduated from Colby College in 2011 with a B.A. in Physics. Up until college I lived in Lincolnville, ME, a small town on the coast. I spent three summers during my undergraduate studies doing research at three different places around the country. My research is currently focused on nighttime temperatures in the Earth’s upper atmosphere using incoherent scatter radar, in-situ satellites, all-sky imagers, and Fabry-Perot Interferometers. Most of my work has been about the Midnight Temperature Maximum, an increase in temperature around 300 km altitude that happens around midnight.
I enjoy many outdoor activities such as hiking, swimming, skiing, waterskiing, kayaking and playing ultimate frisbee. I also like traveling, penguins, and playing the tuba.
