Our lab studies how complex brains and behaviors evolve. We also are involved in many aquatic biodiversity conservation initiatives:

Evolution of Brain and Behavior Research

The closely related African cichlids of Lake Tanganyika utilize diverse habitats types and have diverse social behaviors and organizations. Our research focuses on how environmental and social demands work to shape the brain structure and function in this evolutionary model.

Aquatic Biodiversity Conservation

The Aquatic Biodiversity Initiative highlights the value of science in addressing pressing questions in aquatic biodiversity, the interdependence of humans with other species and ecosystems, and the importance of changing human behavior.
